We are a small but mighty collective of creatives with various talents, a strong sense of community and tireless drive. We volunteer our time [a lot of it!] to amplify what we believe is important to us—the act of creating, the honor of appreciating and the gift of community. We are always on the lookout for a few good folks to join our team. BADASS is run mainly on volunteer horsepower [some vendors are paid for their products or services, that’s just the nature of the beast], relying solely on BLACK SUN contributions, student internships, artists' time, the participant registration fees and a few creative funding solutions.
Our mission is simple: elevate visual & performance artists and art. We provide a frequent opportunity for groups of people to come together for a brief yet intimate escape from their daily routines. We give the attendees the opportunity to mix with other like-minded folks and acquaint themselves with serious artists and art. And when it fits, we fold excellent food into the experience. We are unique for several reasons, but two stand out: First, there is nothing like BADASS within 500 miles, possibly further; Second, no two BADASS events looks the same. We take pride in honoring each deserving artist with their own treatment of context, space, food, music, timing and promotions.
Our base is BLACK SUN studio which is home to michael black, a commercial and editorial photographer, creative director and designer. All production, planning and events are incubated and occur in the BLACK SUN studio, however, there are plans for sustainable growth.
We'd love to hear from you [praise is preferred]. No matter what, feel free to email any questions, comments or kind words. We will do our best to get back to you within a short period of time. Because we have other jobs, it may take us 2–3 days to reply, but rest assured all inquiries will receive our full attention.
